April 1, 2017 – Child Custody and Wills

An important aspect of our lives in Qatar often gets overlooked due to perceived complexities: how to arrange our affairs in anticipation of and following the death of either our spouse our ourselves, or both.

PPFQ has brought together a small panel of legal and banking experts who will help guide us through preparation of legal documents including child guardianship and wills, local legalization and registration steps, and practical suggestions and tips on implementation.

Our hope is to provide the community with an oppportunity to better prepare themselves and put in place an enforceable will. This is of particular importance given our expatriate status, regardless of passport nationality, and the seminar will provide an overview of the main issues to consider.

PPFQ is a not-for-profit and non-political organization, comprising of Pakistani professionals based in Qatar. They are primarily involved in raising the profile of Pakistanis living in the country by working through its four pillars, namely, Professional Networking, Community Building, Cultural, and Charity pillars.

At this occasion, patients visited the camp in large numbers – 430 to be exact – for consultation with a team of twenty specialist doctors from Hamad Hospital. Hamad, along with the Supreme Council of Health and the Pakistan Embassy in Qatar were instrumental in the planning and implementation of this major initiative. Along with the supply of doctors, the camp also benefited from a large stock of free medicine, and a full time ambulance with Paramedics on standby. There were dedicated facilities for ladies and children as well as onsite blood sugar testing. Majority of the visiting patients comprised of those from the lower income group, the main target demographic of the camp.

The camp was well organized to cater for the large number of patients, who started pouring in as early as five in the morning. They were offered shaded seating and free refreshments while they waited for their turn. During the inauguration ceremony held inside the PEC premises, the President and Acting Chairman of PPFQ, Mr. Adnan Kirmani, briefed the guests on the current and future plans and projects of the Forum. The Chief Guests were Mr. Malik Farooq, Charge de Affaires, Pakistan Embassy in Qatar, and Mr. Javed Sheikh, Dean of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar.

Considering the positive response, and the humanitarian value of the initiative, PPFQ is going to hold this camp on an annual basis. The aim is to have a bigger event than previous years and for this purpose the assistance and support of all would be appreciated

November 12, 2012 – Qatar Exchange Gives Presentation to Pakistani Professional Forum Qatar

Qatar Exchange Gives Presentation to Pakistani Professional Forum Qatar

On Monday November 12, the Qatar Exchange gave a presentation to the Pakistani Professional Forum Qatar at the Al Sharq Hotel.  The presentation, which was entitled “Qatar Exchange – an Investment Opportunity for Professionals”, is part of a greater QE strategy to engage with the non-Qatari investor base in Qatar.  QE is reaching out to the expatriate community in Qatar to raise awareness about investment opportunities that exist for all investors and to spread the word that QE’s doors are open to all investors – not just Qataris.  Throughout the year, QE has given many presentations to local business councils and reaching out to the Pakistani Professional Forum Qatar was important as the Forum is active in Qatar and thus necessary to let the professionals in the forum know about the opportunities that exist for them at QE.

Mr. Mohsin Mujtaba, Director of Product and Market Development at Qatar Exchange gave the presentation on behalf of QE to an audience of about 100 professionals from the Pakistani Professional Forum Qatar.  Mr. Mujtaba talked about the following topics:

1. Why investment is an important part of your savings plan.

2. Investments opportunities provided by QE

3. How to trade and invest in QE market.

“Cash savings deplete over the course of time due to inflation and hence it’s important to convert part of your savings into investments to benefit from the growth in the economy and markets. Qatar’s economy has seen tremendous growth and will continue to grow with massive development plans in the pipeline. Qatar Exchange listed companies offer investment opportunities to benefit from the growth of the economy” said Mohsin Mujtaba.

Following the half an hour presentation, QE facilitated a panel discussion that followed with Mr. Parvez Khan, GM CB Investment Services, Commercial Bank of Qatar; Akber Khan, Director, Asset Management, Al Rayan Investment and Mr. Ather Naqi, Marketing Manager – Asset Management, Qatar National Bank.  The panel discussion focused on various asset classes across geographies in the current economic climate.

In closing remarks, founder and chairman of PPFQ Dr. Mazhar Monga thanked QE for their effort to bring investment opportunities to PPFQ forum and noted the contribution of Pakistanis in the progress of Qatar. PPFQ ( is a voluntary platform for Pakistani professionals and regularly holds seminars and events engaging professionals and volunteers

The Pakistan Professionals Forum Qatar (PPFQ) organized a lecture titled ‘Art of Leading a Meaningful Life’ on  29th March 2012.  The keynote address was given by Suleman Ahmer, CEO of Timelenders, a leading management consulting and training firm with a vision of helping individuals and organisations have a meaningful existence. Pakistan Ambassador to Qatar HE Muhammad Sarfraz A Khanzada presided over the function.

Ahmer is an award winning author and has three works. The essence of his travel experiences are captured in ‘The Embattled Innocence’ published in the US and his current focus is ‘Strategic Time Management’ and ‘Strategic Visions’. His interest in the power of visions to transform organizations has resulted in consulting work with groups in Pakistan, the UAE and the US.

He has consulted both local and multinational organizations. Suleman has taught the fundamentals of visions in Bahrain, Kuwait, Pakistan, the UAE and the US. Speaking on the occasion, HE Mr. Khanzada appreciated PPFQ for organizing the thought provoking talk. “The ideas presented by Ahmer to leading a meaningful life will serve as food for thought for all of us,” the Ambassador said.
